WAHOO'S WILDERNESS DISCOVERY
A Unique Outdoor Education Camp

Designed for Public, Private and Home School Groups
Boys & Girls Ages 9- 16

A unique Outdoor Education experience at Camp Wahoo located in the beautiful Cascade Mountains just two hours from the Puget Sound area and a half hour outside Cle Elum. Camp Wahoo offers a true outdoor learning environment. At our cozy rustic base camp high in the Wenatchee National Forest, campers will experience outdoor living and wilderness study. They will take a trail ride deeper into the forest where further learning and beauty await them.

CURRICULUM
From the classroom to the mountains, our program will be built around the needs and interests of your students. Following are your choices of environmental themes: "The Water Story, A journey from Mountain to Sea", "Forests, A habitat for Us All" or "A fish Story, What's Good for Them is Good for Us".

Throughout the three days, woven into the environmental unit, there will be the lessons about the wilderness. These lessons will include the necessary survival, team-building and personal skills necessary for thriving in this setting. Also available is the potential for guest teaching or consulting back in the school settiing before and after the camping experience. This three day camp can be expanded to a larger group through a follow up field experience using the campers as the new environmental experts.

HORSEMANSHIP
The students will have the opportunity to develop a relationship with our wonderful camp horses. These horses are a very important part of our summer camp program. Involvement ranges from grooming and daily care to round pen work including a riding lesson or trail ride.

OUTDOOR LIVING SKILL
Live in harmony with nature through building your own outdoor shelter, using a compass, reading a map, dressing for the outdoors, "thrival" to our campers at Camp Wahoo, preparing them to thrive rather that survive as they are learning their outdoor skills.Oudoor cooking is taught over an open campfire using the art of dutch oven cooking.

LIVING IN HARMONY WITH NATURE
Camp Wahoo uses only low impact products and functions using low impact systems. Campers assist in the everyday care of the camp including recycling and composting to maintain our pristine environment. This allows us to live among the native wildlife such as mule deer, elk, grouse, chipmunks, marmots, and moutain goats.

PARENT PARTICIPATION
For our Home School groups, parents will be invited to join us as cabin counselors and kitchen helpers. They too will be enriched by the program and the experience as they enjoy this beautiful setting.

SAFETY
Your child's safety is our #1 concern. Safety rules in all aspects of wilderness living are stressed. All horse contact is under the supervision of our experienced staff. The horses are our suberb string of mountain horses used in the Camp Wahoo summer horsemanship program. They are very child friendly.
