Training Program
Handling
High Country Outfitters has raised and trained quite a few of the horses on the string. These horses have spent many hours on the trail each season beginning as early as when they were still by their mother’s side. They have the attitude of loving to be on the trail and look forward to what will happen next.

After attending a 7 day course at the Monty Roberts International Training Center in Solvang , CA to learn the Join up and Follow up method of starting and working with a horse, all of the young horses are now being started and brought up successfully with this method. Monty is nationally known for his outstanding work in communicating with the horses in a non-violent manner. You can find out more about his work at http://www.montyroberts.com./

During the off season Keatha Senyohl has been brought in as a clinician to instruct in developing a riding foundation on these young horses that compliments the Join Up and Follow Up. Once this foundation is taught to the horse and rider, they will be ready to go on to any discipline of riding.

Keatha’s wonderful way of instructing allows the horse and rider enjoy and look forward to learning. We are learning to train and ride in a way that compliments the biomechanics of the horse and rider. She has been teaching, training and trouble shooting for over thirty years. Keatha has a Horse Maters degree from Potomac West School of Horsemanship in California. She has continued her own education at symposiums with such greats as Rhiner Klimke and Linda Tellington Jones. She has ridden with Robert Hall, Major Jeremy Beals and J. Ashton Moore as well as lessons from Sandra Pearson Adams of Great Britain and others who have helped further her expertise.

Keatha’s training is based on the biomechanics of the horse. This develops the muscles of the horse to support the skeletal structure in balance. Exercises are used to allow the horse to freely develop their muscles and to move the way they were built to move opening up an energy flow of motion. It is a joy to work with a horse in this manner!

Keatha can walk anyone through a clear explanation. This wonderful and positive way of working with the horse and rider make riding a pleasure.
